Senior Tax Accountant

📍 Houston, TX | 🕒 Full-time, On-site (5 days/week)

A well-established services company is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our collaborative and professional team. 🌟 What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance across a range of tax areas—with a primary focus on sales and local taxes , and occasional involvement in property tax . You’ll also have the chance to get involved in system implementations and payroll tax processes, if experienced.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file accurate and timely sales, local, and property tax returns
• Ensure proper registration and compliance when expanding into new jurisdictions
• Maintain and track business licenses and tax registrations
• Research and resolve complex tax issues, notices, and discrepancies
• Support external consultants and auditors with tax-related documentation
• Provide guidance on closing state/local tax matters for acquisitions
• Assist with payroll tax filings (a plus, not a must)
• Participate in systems and process improvements (implementation experience a plus)

✅ What We’re Looking For:

• 2+ years of relevant U.S. tax experience required , ideally 3–5 years
• Solid background in sales and local tax compliance
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience with multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction tax filings preferred
• Bonus: experience in payroll tax and tax system implementation
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA not required)
