About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Math Teacher. This teacher will provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ mathematical fluency, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills. Emblaze math teachers prioritize discourse, strategic questioning, and real-world application to prepare students for high school-level coursework and beyond.

This role includes collaboration with the STEM Director and Special Education team to ensure lessons are inclusive and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily math lessons aligned to grade-level standards and internal pacing guides
• Scaffold instruction and provide clear models, guided practice, and checks for understanding
• Use data from daily student work and assessments to reteach, accelerate, and personalize learning
• Collaborate closely with co-teachers, SPED staff, and STEM teammates to support student success
• Build a strong, supportive classroom culture rooted in Emblaze’s RISE values: Respect, Integrity, Scholarship, and Effort
• Provide regular feedback to students and maintain consistent communication with families
• Participate in weekly Friday professional development and contribute to team planning and improvement cycles

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree in Education or Math-related field (preferred)
• New York State certification in Math 5–9 or Childhood Education with extension (preferred)
• Prior experience teaching middle school math, especially in under-resourced settings (preferred)
• Deep belief in students’ potential to master challenging content with the right support
• Strong classroom management and lesson execution skills
• Commitment to continuous improvement and instructional excellence
