Draftsman / CAD Operator

Location: Fate, TX (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000

Schedule: Full-Time

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman/CAD Operator to join a growing construction and design firm specializing in commercial tenant finish-outs within the medical and veterinary industries. This position is based onsite in Fate, TX (near Rockwall) and offers long-term professional growth, including hands-on training in estimating.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate 2D construction drawings using Autodesk for permitting and code compliance
• Develop architectural, engineering, and millwork plans from specifications, sketches, and site measurements
• Manage the permitting process and liaise with city officials
• Create and revise shop drawings, MEP layouts, and design updates
• Conduct site visits and field measurements
• Assist the estimating team with material take-offs and cost calculations
• Provide technical support to field and office teams

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience (2D focus only)
• Proficiency in Autodesk and AutoCAD hotkeys
• Ability to interpret floor plans, elevations, and MEP drawings
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
• Familiarity with local building codes and permitting
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Eagerness to learn estimating and grow within the company
• Some college coursework preferred but not required
